Seeking Shalom

Seeking Shalom is the joint venture of a number of related entities. Our structure has been determined because of state laws as well as the way that we practice. The entities that work together to provide the direct services are:

Seeking Shalom Marriage and Family Therapy, P.C.

This New York professional corporation provides marriage and family therapy services. Our clinicians, fellows, residents and interns practicing in New York State work within this professional entity if their professional identity is being a marriage and family therapist.

Seeking Shalom Mental Health Counseling, P.C.

This New York professional corporation provides mental health counseling services. Our clinicians, fellows, residents and interns practicing in New York State work within this professional entity if their professional identity is being a mental health counselor.

Seeking Shalom of Indiana, Ltd.

This Indiana nonprofit corporation is the home for our operations and programs in Indiana.

Clients may relate to one or more of the above entities. The entities cooperate with each other in order to make this as seamless as possible for the clients. Essentially, the service occurs in the context of the entity within which the service, the location, and the provider requires. At times, when there are choices, this may be influenced based on other factors such as payment sources of the client or projected developments in the case. Note that the scopes of practice between marriage and family therapy and mental health counseling include a significant overlap.

In addition to the cooperation among the main entities described above, there are other entities that Seeking Shalom works with. This includes our local partners, with whom we are pleased to be involved in co-ministry. Additionally, we do cooperate with Shalom Press, which is an imprint of Big Apple Publishing, Inc.

Christopher L. Smith is a principle in entities across Seeking Shalom, having served as a founder of each entity.
