Organization of Seeking Shalom
Seeking Shalom is the joint venture of a number of related entities. Our structure has been determined because of state laws as well as the way that we practice. The entities that you may be involved with are described below.
Direct Service Entities
The entities that work together to provide the direct services are:

- Seeking Shalom of Indiana, Ltd.
This New York professional corporation provides marriage and family therapy services.
Our clinicians, fellows, residents and interns practicing in New York State work within this professional entity if their professional identity is being a marriage and family therapist.
This New York professional corporation provides mental health counseling services.
Our clinicians, fellows, residents and interns practicing in New York State work within this professional entity if their professional identity is being a mental health counselor.
This Indiana nonprofit corporation is the home for our operations and programs in Indiana.
Our clinicians practicing in Indiana work within this entity.
Clients may relate to one or more of the above entities. The entities cooperate with each other in order to make this as seamless as possible for the clients. Essentially, the service occurs in the context of the entity within which the service, the location, and the provider requires. At times, when there are choices, this may be influenced based on other factors such as payment sources of the client or projected developments in the case. Note that the scopes of practice between marriage and family therapy and mental health counseling include a significant overlap.

Clients may or may not have any relationship with these related entities. Local partners may be experienced when you receive services. University partners may be involved if your clinician is an intern. Supporting partners may be involved in providing some of the services.
Common Foundation
Dr. Christopher L. Smith was a founder of each of the direct service entities as well as Shalom Press. To this day, he continues as a principle in these entities.
